Published by Cruz under -

The world is your oyster!

WOOHOO!

ADVENTURE!

Published by Cruz under -

The recently concluded tour in New Zealand was specially put together by Chan Brothers, to cater to a group of adventurous Y.E.S. 93.3FM listeners. There were several exclusive elements, and I think my passengers enjoyed themselves as much as I did.

People who have tried prawning in Singapore would be very impressed with the facilities in Huka Prawn Park. And the Malaysians would be incensed. The prawns in this place were picked for their breeding speed, and yes, they came from across the Causeway. If someone up north had that streak of entrepreneurship, Huka would be dissed as nothing more than a copycat.

Tens of thousands of litres pour down in seconds, making Huka Falls a magnificent sight, and a potentially fatal site for morons who try to challenge Nature. Apart from ogling on the bridge, one could pay NZ$99 for a ride in a jetboat. High speed turns and 360 degree spins. Very exciting!

Prior to the trip, people challenged me. “I dare you to do the bungy jump.” Siao ah. Hahaha. I said I would gladly contribute 50% of the fees, if anyone would jump. I didn’t expect a girl to take up the challenge! 3 videos below.

I heart NZ

Published by Cruz under -

I’m back!

I really like the space New Zealand has to offer. I’ll probably freak out if I were to stay there permanently- just imagine the daily commuting and the hassle of getting things done quickly and efficiently- but it was a visual treat for people trapped in a city full of humans and high rise buildings.

Look! Another rainbow!

Apart from sprawling greenery, we saw plenty of animals along the way. Cows and sheep. Many of them. And I like the elegant swans too.

This creature was so happy to see a fellow Sheep from Singapore that it had to pee on the spot.

Before.

After.

The fruit originated from China, but the Kiwis were the one who made it their National Fruit. Over at Kiwi360, where they account for 90% of the international market, top grade fruits are shipped off to the Japanese, who wouldn’t settle for anything less. Orchards like this used to allow visitors to pluck fruits, but reversed their decisions after too many Asians went out of control and plucked fruits from forbidden areas. Singaporeans were apparently top on the list of badly behaved tourists. Tsk.

They really love their rugby. All Blacks merchandise was all over the place. And as the coach went past schools and other fields, we saw men and boys jostling over the oval ball. The enthusiasm level for their All Whites team competing in the FIFA World Cup pales in comparison.

As we headed south from Auckland, the temperature dipped. We were all eager to seek shelter from the merciless winds in Waitomo Glowworm Caves. No pictures were allowed within, and entry level cameras wouldn’t be able to capture its full glory anyway. The worms glow to attract the opposite sex, or prey. What a sight, as the boat sailed through a pitch dark cave (I was thinking Phantom of the Opera). We lifted our heads to marvel at the thousands of glowworms that had attached themselves to the curvy ceilings. “Let’s not talk, in case the worms fall into our mouths.”

More pics and vids coming up…

11.6: SIN-AKL/ 12.6: Auckland

KIA ORA!

It’s GMT +12 here in wintry New Zealand, and the temperature is still manageable with a jacket on top of a tee and jeans.

My listeners and I departed for Auckland on Friday evening. Some of them slept well on the plane; while I found myself jerking awake every 15 minutes. The interrogation process at the customs was horribly long, not good for someone who just endured a 9.5hr sleepless flight. And two Malaysian passengers were held up for 2 entire hours!

My birthday!

A quick Chinese lunch later, we embarked on the city tour. And that’s when the (mass) photo taking began. I swear by the following: 1) Erratic Moulding Clay by Joice, 2) High Hair Finishing Spray by Wella, and 3) Studio Fix by M.A.C. I was generally ok for pictures, even after a long night on SQ! Hahaha.

Compared to the 5 million people squeezing in Singapore, only 4 million make New Zealand home. They share the space with 60 million sheep and cows.

The Coach Captain. Tour guide cum driver.

Evening rush hour begins from 3pm!

Down a slope, right into the harbour. The locals must be in a perpetual holiday mood!

Our friends from Mainland China are everywhere.

Once a volcano, now a tourist spot. Hot piping lava used to emerge from this innocent looking crater.

Here, you get a panoramic view of the 4th largest city in the world.

Hello everyone perspiring back home. It’s 15 degrees at the top of Mt. Eden.

Auckland is known as the City of Sails. This picture was taken while I was on the coach. The sight of hundreds of yachts anchoring at the bay was magnificent.

Rain…

… and then a rainbow.

Flavour of the Day: Hokey Pokey. Some honeycomb thingy.

We had the ice cream by the beach and watched the seagulls hovering above us. They reminded me of the irritating gluttons in Finding Nemo. Hahaha.

I was too tired to hit the Sky City casino by the time we checked in at 5pm. In fact, I didn’t even want to explore the streets below, and had food delivered to my room two hours later. The NZ$29 meal was awful. The poor fish died for nothing.

Published by Cruz under -

WOOHOO!
