Radio Experience: Sommu joined as a part-time radio drama actor in the late sixties. In 1979, Sommu joined as an announcer with the Radio Television Singapore.


In addition to his on-air duties, Sommu also directed stage dramas (such as Silappathi Karam in 1982, Naladamayanthi in 1983 and Manonmanyanthi in 1984), wrote scripts for radio and stage dramas and is a well-known short-story writer. He was also the co-producer of the 64-part Mahabharatham radio drama and acted in the main role which was well received by the listeners.


He has hosted many variety shows in Radio and a few TV and stage shows. He has also acted in much radio, TV & Stage Dramas – in fact, he won the Vasantham Central “Pradhana Vizha – Best Actor” award in 2007 !


A proud recipient of the Singapore Indian Artistes’ “Kalaichemmal” award in 1990, he has acted in the Association’s stage dramas “Kalyanama, Kalyanam” 1972, and in “Alaiyum Attma” in 1973.
He has been a community worker since late seventies.


He is a member in the Singapore Indian Artistes Association since its inception in 1970,


Currently a Senior DJ at Oli, Sommu produces Radio Dramas and the Vivaatha Maedai.
