Great Architecture

Published by margaretml under Uncategorized

The buildings are historical and just awe inspiring. St Paul’s Cathederal, where the tombs of many kings and queens lay to the silent halls of Westminster Abbey; if only walls could talk what stories would these places tell!

To market, to market!

Published by margaretml under Uncategorized

Everyone who knew I was headed towards London INSISTED that I had to make a stop at Camden Market. And when I did make my way there I understood why! Endless rows of shops with all sorts of trinkets that would make a bargain hunters’ eye light up!
Let me warn you that it takes more than half a day to make your way around Camden Market. So don’t plan to do anything else EXCEPT get hopelessly caught up in the bevvy of shops and bargain opportunities! *Note to those not interested in the shopping; try the food places along the way!

All Hail Queen…The Band

I’ve got the photos completed from that magical moment of our visit to The Stormtroopers In Stilettoes Exhibition. It was amazing!

I’m hoping that it comes to Singapore for more Queen fans to enjoy.

Meanwhile, pop in your favourite Queen songs and enjoy the slideshow!

Tubing Around London

Published by margaretml under Uncategorized

Today was an amazing experience! Hossan and I headed to the East Side Of London to check out The Stormtroopers In Stilettoes Exhibition.

It’s on at the Old Truman Brewery till 12th March.

A pictorial and editorial diary of the lives of Freddie and the rest of the band. I tell you, it’s a phenomenal experience standing in that room filled with Queen memorabilia. The costumes, the never before seen conversations, his life performances.

The portion of the exhibition that dealt with their first US tour and the unfortunate incident of Brian May falling seriously ill!

I think I’m going to dig out all the Queen albums and listen to them again when I get home. You would too if you were here…

*More pictures of The Stormtroopers In Stilettoes Exhibition will be on facebook. Look for Gold Breakfast Show and ask to be added as a friend and we’ll accept you asap.

LIVE IN LONDON

Published by margaretml under Uncategorized

Well, we’ve FINALLY reached London! 13.5 hours later and nearly 2 days of no sleep, Hossan, Kim (our producer) and myself scouring the streets near our hotel for…oh wel…I won’t bore you with the details!
What’s fun is seeing the effects of jetlag kick in! Haha…sorry, no photo evidence of that. You’d be able to blackmail us for far TOO much if you had it in your hands.
Exploring London has been a bit of a challenge because of the rain. Yup, we experienced the famed muggy weather here as soon as we got off the plane.

Checked into the glorious Millenium Gloucester and then went out for a bit of exploring; in the chilly, nippy wind! Wow! I think my eyebrows froze!

We’re going to explore more of London later (still trying to get the hang of the 8-hour time difference!) Like check out the best places to eat the quintissential Brit fare, hang out where we might see the Queen and check out the Stormtroopers In Stilettoes Exhibition.
I’m putting photos up everyday so be sure to keep checking!

Preparing For London

Published by margaretml under Uncategorized

My first time in London (Maggie that is) and so what shall I pack?

Everyone’s telling me to “layer” because of the cold. How many layers is enough? 2, 3, 4?

I feel like a kueh lapis!

I’m terrible at estimating how many outfits I need. I usually land up with more than I really need. But I guess I’m kiasu that way.

I keep fretting that I may not have enough clothes while away.

And buying on impulse, I usually reserve for Singapore shopping.

What’s a novice London-goer to do?

Help!

Going West

Published by margaretml under Uncategorized

This time next week, Hossan and I will be on a plane flying off to London to catch Queen! Ok, not as in Queen Elizabeth (William’s and Harry’s grandmama) but we’re packing our bags to catch the excitement of Queen The Band’s 40th Anniversary!
OMG! We’ve got such an itinerary planned (thanks to Universal Music Singapore and Visit Britain!)
We’ll be popping over to The Stormtroopers In Stilettoes Exhibition – this apparently is a pictorial of the life and career of the band. The costumes, the stories, the pictures! I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it! I really hope I get to meet either Brian or Roger; that’ll so totally BLOW my mind!
And then, we’re going to visit Windsor Castle…walking through some of the wings where the royal family have sauntered through and similarly other very important people. I’m hoping to conveniently “lose my way” in the hopes of bumping into one of them! I have some tips for at least 2 of them in trying to regain their fast disappearing locks!
The breakfast show will carry on as usual; just that Hossan and I will be in London. But the madness and sunshine continues!
Be sure to tune in, ok?
