Another challenge accomplished! This time the challenge was about how well we can match our everyday devices to the description given. In a 90 second time limit, we are to match 10 devices to the 10 descriptions given, and we have to be very accurate, cos for every wrong or no answer, we will be deducted 1 point. At the end, all 3 teams scored full marks for this challenge! Congratulations to one and all!
We have finally completed all our 11 challenges, and we are down to the grand finale presentation, where we will be given about 15 minutes to present our Saving Gaia ideas to members of the public.
Can’t wait for that to start, til then, this is Des and Lynn signing off live from Plaza Singapura. Do come down and hear us battling out for the title of MediaCorp Gaia-Ambassadors 2009!

Another challenge has gone by, this was quite an interesting challenge to test our knowledge on our wildlife friends who have over the years, had their numbers depleted in great amount due to overhunting and lost of their homes due to deforestation, etc. I certainly learnt a great deal about these endangered species from our 2 fellow DJs, who gave us clues to guess these animals.
The only downside was i was unfortunate enough to find a member of the public who was a little strange. When we were told to get someone from the public to assist us in this game, i tried very hard to find someone, but to no avail, as it is a sunday morning, and there really wasn’t any people around. Then suddenly this elderly gentleman came over and told me he cn help, as time was up, i had to take him. I realised he reeked of alcohol, couldn’t understand English, and worse of all, he acted strange signals, which totally confused Lynn. That was when i knew i was on my own, and we tried our best to figure out the animals.
Enough said, it’s time to move on to our last challenge. Though we are lagging behind, i think the key takeaway is really not about the prize, but rather, we have gain a deeper understanding on how important our environment is to us, and what each and everyone of us can do to make a difference to build a better tomorrow!
Til then, this is Des and Lynn signing off (with 98.7FM playing in the background ^-^)

Good morning Singapore…. =)
We had an uneventful sleep last night, though there were occasional mozzies, and once in a while ruckus from the streets, still WE SURVIVED! We rised and shine early this morning, had our big breakfast from Macdonald’s (yummy… =p) and now we are awaiting our next challenge which will begin shortly.
Indeed this challenge had been very meaningful and engaging so far, and definitely brought me and my other half closer together. A memorable quote ” A Once in a Lifetime Experience….!” and yup, we have learnt a lot. With just 3 more hours to go, 2 more challenges, 1 finale presentation, and we will be FREE!
Til then, enjoy this beautiful Sunday morning, and if you have nothing else to do, come down to Plaza Singapura (Official Venue Sponsor) and join us in our Saving Gaia Challenge, brought to you by Mediacorp, and supported by Gain City!

Just finished our challenge! This was a relatively easy game, where we had to spot 5 environmentally friendly practices, and 5 environmentally non-friendly practices. I had the good fortune of getting a member of the audience, Hadfiz, who was really quick in identifying all 10 of them, and correctly! Thanks Hadfiz, you are a great pal, though we are total strangers, you were warm and friendly! Enjoy your midnight movie “Transformers”! I am so jealous, i wanna watch too!
This challenge actually reminded me of the various good practices that should be continued, such as doing your laundry when you have a full load to save energy, switching the lights and fans off when not in the room, not leaving the tap running when brushing teeth, washing vegetables and fruits using a basin of water instead of running from the tap, always use public transport or even cycle where possible, so as to contribute less pollutants to our atmosphere!
Last but not least, there is this particular bad habit that i am sure many people are guilty of, and that is to turn on the computer, tv, radio all at the same time! I am sure we cant’t do everything at the same time, so, turn it off and concentrate on just one! Every little action goes a long way to saving energy, and our mother Earth!
Til our next challenge, this is Des and Lynn signing off! ^-^

We had to remove the soil from a plant & place it into a pot of clay minerals. The determining factor was to pour water into the pot of plant, till the measuring gauge reads maximum. Removing the soil was tough & we took quite a while. We were really anxious… now, the plant sits peacefully in the corner of my little room. Adding a little life to my room.
Help plant trees. Trees reduce pollutants in the atmosphere & reduce global warming. Trees also beautify our surroundings, & provide the much needed shade we’r always searching for.

Support our cause! We were trying to raise funds to build a garden city. We were given 5 mins to complete our task, & we only managed to raise $4.50! The 1st guy i spoke to gave me 10cents. So much for a confidence boost! We didnt come across many supporters. But its ok, the night goes on, & the challenges go on.
Jia you to us! =)

Another interesting challenge! we were supposed to guess 5 items based on the clues given to us, and once we have guessed the items, we are supposed to go find the item. I must say both of us find it rather easy, though we got 1 wrong and another one not accurate with our answer, we managed to find the items we answered correctly! =)
This challenge actually let me in on some facts about the simple everyday items that we use all the time and take for granted. For instance, improper disposal of batteries can lead to tons of metals and undesirable gases to be released into the atmosphere. Also the combustion of plastic actually releases poisonous gases into our fragile atmosphere, such as methane!
Hope this will give us a good scare on the amount of destruction we are doing to our environment, and please please reuse those plastic bags you have gotten, and better still, bring your own shopping bags! That way you don’t have to use any plastic bags!
Support Our Cause,
Des & Lynn =p

We were tasked to transport water from point A to B. Behind the scenes, we tried to figure out how to make a origami box to assist us in our task. But we failed, & we had to settle for paper cones instead. (They are easier to make)We made many sturdy paper cones, & we managed to minimize spillage. Des could really run!! *impressed* Thanks to his speed, we managed to top this round. This brings us to a tie with another team.
I spilled quite a bit of water when i was transferring water from the pail to the cone. We would like to urge all to use water wisely. Every of us depends on water for life & our water resources are finite. Lets all do our part, & make a huge difference together!
Lets Pledge To Love Our Earth,
Des & Lynn ^-^

Do you know how much energy your daily applicances use? Well.. through this challenge, Des & i learnt what we have never known. Your air-con consumes 1000 Watts, your fan consumes 40 Watts. A fluorescent tube consumes 40 Watts. Do what a gaia lover would do! Switch on the fan instead of the air-con! Umm.. & enjoy your food in its natural state. Y? Because your microwave oven & toaster consumes lots of energy too!
So much for quizzes… we’r still lagging behind. Oh..No. We’ll need a lot of luck, & we’ll definitely need to try harder. I am soo excited about my 4pm break. Time check, its another 15 more mins to 4pm =) Hear from us again!

Bin It RIGHT!
Des has 30 seconds to separate the trash & bin it right as i sit here blogging. Looks pretty ok to me.. it seems to be a piece of cake for him & his partner (friendly stranger from the street).
A straw went into the box meant for paper. Oh no.
Let me digress a little as i wait for the results.. Des looks anxious.. haha.
The stranger won a recycleable bag for himself. Thank you for your help!!
We’r behind the 2 teams, but we’ll work on it! I have full confidence in our team. Jia you!!
