WAN TON MEE

Published by Denise

Do you love wan tan mee? Tell us where the best in Singapore can be found!

First up, a little dumpling trivia – no matter how you spell it, Wan Tan, Wan Ton, or Won Ton, these yummy dumplings are delicious! 云吞 (yun tun) actually means swallowing of clouds in Chinese. And you can see why…

Hamish’s Recommendation: Hong Ji Mian Shi Jia, #01-05 Telok Blangah Market and Food Centre, Blk 79 Telok Blangah Road, Closed on Fridays, Open 7am till 7pm
Long queues can only mean one thing – gold at the end of the line! The noodles are awesome – thin, flat and transluscent.

Denise’s Recommendation: Pontian Wanton Mee, Holland Village food centre. It’s all about the noodles – super springy and never soggy, even after you take away.

  • Dear DEN-ISH duet, oh yes Denise , agree with you the Pontian wan tan mee has the super standard taste especially their crunchy mee. And it has a 60th history . Like 2 recommend one i have tried is at Hougang Plaza. Makan kaki-adeline

  • re wanton noodles, don’t completely agree with Denise’s raving about Pontian’s, its chilli sauce tastes like bottled stuff! I only go for its soup version. By the way, nobody makes really yummy wanton noodles these days! Tkvm for reading tis sms! Hv a nice day! Jennifer Quah.

  • I wl not describe the wanton mee to u but wl describe other events which clearly shows how good n popular the stall is. When they were at a coffee shop opposite their current location, the coffee shop was bustling with customers in the morning. Ever since they moved to the market opposite, the coffee shop became very quiet. Even the economy rice stall closed down. Where did all the customers go? Like bees to honey, they buzzed to the market where the stall has moved to. The market bustles with customers and activity when they are opened and is quiet when they are closed on Mondays. They only operate in the mornings and sell hundreds of bowls each morning. Some regulars also call her mobile to place order to avoid the wait. The stall is at Toa Payoh Lor 4 Blk 93.

  • stall at blk 79 telok blangah dr. The noodle is ‘kew’ n crunchy. It is well blenched into the spicy chillies n seasame oil. The char siex n ‘siu kau’ soup is really super.
