Where to Find the BEST HOKKIEN MEE in Town?

  • Hi Denise, have you try the Hokkien Mee at the Food Republic at VIVOCITY? I think it looks very tempting in the special leaf-liked plate on which it was served with big prawns. If only they can remove the prawns’ skin ‘cos i don’t like to do it esp in public…Valerie

  • Oh my God, this is 1 of my favourite dish. U people must have gone there 2 eat b4 but I must say this, it is still 1 of my best. It is not too dry n d aroma of d yellow mee, bee hoon n egg are so shiok that makes u so hungry. D way it is fried also plays a part. Oh, d prawns are fresh. They are very juicy. U can pop by at Nam Sing Hokkien Fried Mee (Hougang) at stall 01-32 at Blk 51 Old Airport Road Food Centre. Go there n have ur lunch, if u have not been there bu+ b prepared 2 wait 4 at least 15 minutes or more if there is a queue. Happy eating. Frederick Cham.

  • This week’s Hokkien Mee King and winner of the Gold Gift Pack is…Ettore Palazzi!
Dear Denise. Geylang Lor 29 Hokkien Mee is located in 396 East Coast “food ‘r us” hawker centre. I have been in Singapore the last 24 years and I cannot think of any better hokkien mee stall. The prawns are very fresh and large the mee is the right mix of mee (the thin and the large) and they are blended with a super gravy made of the heads of the prawns (cholesterol punch) but who cares. The lard is chanky and crispy. And last but not least Alex is cooking on charcoal, which gives an estraordinary smooky flavor to the mee. What can I say I can die for it. My biggest problem is that I leave nearby. Only a walkinging distance. So very tempting ah ah. Cheers Ettore Palazzi.
