Dreamy-Delicious

If you love Peranakan food, do try this fairly new stall over at Tiong Bahru Food Centre and tell me what you think. I enjoyed the food for its wholesome, homecooked taste and their sambal belachan is shiok! Daisy’s Dream Kitchen is a family set up with food cooked by actress and Dim Sum Dolly Selena Tan’s mum, Daisy.
The menu isn’t very big, but what’s there is good.

The most unusual dish is their buah keluak because instead of the usual chicken, it’s made with pork. It’s pungent, unctuous and hearty, with the minced pork mixed with the buah keluak paste.

The babi buah keluak is available in a set meal with bakwan kepiting (meat & tofu ball soup), rice, belinjau keropok and chap chye, which has been stewed to salty-sweet perfection.

If you’re not into buah keluak, they have another set lunch option – try the super-duper assam chicken.

Be sure to order a side of their home-made ngoh hiang and eat ‘em hot with the powerful sambal – so good!

While you’re at Tiong Bahru centre, also try the Teochew noodles (mee pok, etc) with yong tau foo I mentioned previously.

They’d run out of my favourite mee pok by the time I arrived, so I had to try their kway teow – slurpingly shiok!
