the last day at danang… was really just walking/roaming around…

then we chanced upon this market along the railway track

it’s not in use anymore… not like some video that i have seen where vendors have to ‘siam’ everything a train passes by~~

these ladies were so shy when i said i wanted to take photos of them…

walked around a lil n found their version of provision shop…

the danang railway station… another alternative to see north, central n south vietnam~~

had lunch at the broken rice restaurant again [ for the third or fourth time] cos this chicken rice just

so-so-so yummy!!!

i was pleasantly surprised to see a snorkelling day trip!!!

IMG_1465aa

but… i was totally unaware of this activity b4 departure… n hence i left my contact lenses n underwater camera at home~~~ but that’s not stopping me~~~ ;p

IMG_1054a

the arrangement so far has not been satisfactory…

but i reminded myself… this is not spore, cannot expect too much~~

first of all… to cham island n a short walk  around the small fishing village~~

IMG_1115aIMG_1120a

IMG_1119a

yummy~~~~ says the fly~~~

IMG_1125a

IMG_1104a

after the hot scorching walk, it’s time for snorkelling… but not before going to this island so that people can change into their swimsuit for swimming. [compare this with the swimming at the beach situation on day2 n it really puzzled me greatly...]

no underwater camera… hence…

then again the fishes are quite countable la~~

IMG_1143a

the widespread for lunch~~~ [which is slightly different from the food served for vietnamese, n that left us wondering if foreigners n locals pay the same price?]

IMG_1154a

taken with the miniature effect… the effect is so unreal…

yet so pro-like ahhahah

IMG_1169aIMG_1171a

he is the boatman… boat captain… a fellow vietnamese on the boat gave him the pair of sunglasses~~~ n his look inspired me to try this …

IMG_1766a

n nope… i din not buy it~~~

IMG_1179a

after a short break with an iced coffee, it;s time to head to old town again~~~

IMG_1217IMG_1253a

IMG_1247aIMG_1225a

IMG_1263a

IMG_1277aIMG_1290a

the sunset… n the change of colours were fascination~~~

it felt like hokkaido’s otaru canal, some european town~~

大红灯笼高高挂~~

In 1999, the old town was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO as a well-preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port of the 15th to 19th centuries, with buildings that display a unique blend of local and foreign influences.

IMG_0718a

Hội An attracts a fair number of tourists, also being a well-established place on the backpacker trail. Many visit for the numerous art and craft shops and tailors, who produce made-to-measure clothes for a fraction of the Western price. Several Internet cafés, bars and restaurants have opened along the riverfront. Hội An is famed for its centuries old cao lầu noodle. The town is also famed for its unique lanterns. ~ extracted from wikipedia~

IMG_0930a

Hoi An, once known as Faifo, was a major international port in the 16th and 17th centuries, and the foreign influences are discernible to this day. While the serious shipping business has long since moved to Da Nang, the heart of the city is still the Old Town, full of winding lanes and Chinese-styled shophouses, which is particularly atmospheric in the evening as the sun goes down. While almost all shops now cater to the tourist trade, the area has been largely preserved as is, which is unusual in Vietnam, and renovation has proceeded slowly and carefully – it’s mercifully absent of towering concrete blocks and karaoke parlors.~extracted from wikitravel~

IMG_0965a

Entry to all historical sites in Hoi An is via a coupon system, where 75,000 dong (US$5) gets you a ticket that can be used to enter five attractions: one museum, one old house, one assembly hall, the handicraft workshop (and traditional music show) or the traditional theater, and either the Japanese Covered Bridge or the Quan Cong Temple. Tickets are sold at various entry points into the Old Town, including Hai Ba Trung Street, and also at some of the attractions, including the Cantonese Assembly Hall.~extracted from wikitravel~

hmmm… to update u… in case u r going… it’s 90,000dong now le…

n hor… they never check if it’s museum or old house or assembly hall or whatever la… just any 5. n by right u should visit all 5 in one day cos the coupon is dated la… BY right… hmmm… but hor… they never really check the date tho~~ ;p

IMG_0941aIMG_0942a

IMG_0943aIMG_0960a

after walking around the old town for several hours under the HOT sun…

we decided to do it their way too… go back to air-con room n rest~~~

IMG_1023a

after a cold shower n a short nap ;p… it’s time to check out the area outside the hotel…

IMG_1025a

like i have mentioned? we are at a beach resort…

n the cua dai beach is a v popular place with the locals too…

imagine all the motorcycles x 3/4pax each~~~

IMG_1036a

it’s like a beach party or some carnival ongoing~~~

IMG_1033a

n most of the locals dun change into swimwear or beachwear…

they go into the water in whatever they come with… n ‘air-dry’

then walk home or walk to the parking lot to get home on their motobike~~~

SO COOL~~~

FIRST time in vietnam… some ppl say nice… some ppl say not nice…

well well well… it’s for me to find out!!!

first… it was supposed to be a 7am flight… then it was retimed to 10am…

well… at least there was notification via sms more than 12 hours before that…

but it affected our connecting flight to danang airport…

so… got a few hours to spare at HCM airport…

lunch!!!! is instant noodles with beef balls n 3 layered tea~~~

IMG_1311

so… all in all… plus a lil delay at HCM airport… n lots of babies crying on board…

we arrived at danang at 5pm i think… *yawn*

[danang is in central vietnam... almost mid point between hanoi n HCM]

right outside the airport… haggle for a taxi to go to Hoi An…

first the taxi driver insisted that we pay according to the meter… but the price was standard n agreed outside the airport at US$15 or VND290,000. [meter is 300,000++]

of cos we refused… gave him VND290,000 n wanted to check in the hotel…

TAR-DAH~~~ the gals at the reception told us… ‘sorry wrong hotel… your hotel is about 1km down the road’!!!! ||| so we hopped onto another taxi to get to our lovely hotel~~~
