bcos it’s too windy, most parts of the beach will have nettings similar to these to lessen the winds resulting in ‘flying’ sand…

the madness at the manila airport!!!

boatman in the sunset background

the fishes that were caught by the boatman n his boys…

happiness is sharing a coconut…

the youngest of the boatman’s boys playing a part by de-shelling the prawns for fish baits

another boy… prob stays near my hotel…

another boy that stays in the house outside my hotel…

here are the gals… in school uniform…

the view from the beach outside the hotel…

the irony? the house behind my hotel…

the rain as a result of the typhoon ‘sepat’…

my favourite dish there -Â buttered prawns with lotsa garlic

Boracay, Philippines 12-17th aug

the journey starts from 6plus am…

wake up, wash up, rush down to airport for the 940am flight la…

first of all, fly to manila which takes about 3+ almost 4 hours.

then collect your luggage from the maddening crowd at the belt and go to the domestic terminal, n pay i think 200 pesos per pax for departure tax.

3-430pm domestic flight to Kalibo airport

from here, we took a passenger van for another 1 n half hour to get to this jetty that allows us to catch a boat or outrigger they call it… n ot withou paying an so called environmental tax of 52 peso per pax..

we have to wait til the boat is full before starting on this 10 minutes shuttle ride… upon arrival at boracay island.. tide is too low hence have to transfer to another hand pushed wooden boat… n of cos have to pay for all these additional ride n the porters helping u with the luggage..

then finally finally we took another 15-20 minutes to get to our accomodation… almost 7pm when we finally checked into the room!!!!

AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH I SPENT A FULL DAY TRAVELLING TO THIS ISLAND! IT HAD BETTER BE GOOD!! hhaaahhaa

(btw the way back is the same tedious almost 12 hours journey la..)

then again, it’s a beautiful island… a place that not many sporeans heard about tho… well some locals, or rather filipinos who left the country, say the government is not promoting the country well enough la…

the beaches are lovely too… but not sure if it’s juz this time of the year.. it’s v v v windy and the side of the sea that our hotel faces, the waves are rather big for swimming tho…

as for the food, not to worry… lots of seafood and lots of BBQ available…

if u love snorkelling, diving n other sea soprts like kite surfing, jet skiing, banana boat, flying fish etc etc u will love Boracay la..

the sunset is also lovely.. but i only managed to catch one such beautiful sunset.. the later few days the island was drizzling/raining quite a bit due to ‘sepat’ la..

well… i had fun snorkelling for 4 days!! many nemos u know!!! but the thought of travelling 12 hours really make me think twice about coming back!! sigh…

the view from mount lupo? i think was great too… one of the hotel staff volunteered to bring us on this trip!!

nice place… but can any airline fly direct to Boracay please?
