你的快乐指数是什么?

Published by ivytan under Uncategorized

If you had been tuning into Ivy’s program this week, you would know that I had been giving away hampers worth $50 every single night! (FWAH…..Generous right?? Whisper, not me…)

All you have to do, is to call in to my show, and share your Happy Index, 快乐指数, which is what makes you happy, and the most meaningful call will win the hamper!

Apart from this, there is also a “Happy It’s Here” event on 5 Dec at Orchard Cineleisure from 1-7pm.

So what is this event all about?

Whisper “happy it’s here!” unites young women in Singapore to help improve the lives of young girls in Laos with better menstrual protection and a healthier future.

Unlike in Singapore, a large number of people live in remote areas of the country and do not have access to resources such as schools and health facilities. Hence, the provincial authorities welcome assistance from NGOs and international organisations for poverty alleviation and long-term development. The World Vision Laos Maternal Child Health (MCH) project supports the communities by providing training on a range of topics to improve the health of the villagers.

This includes a health education campaign specifically for women on the usage of sanitary pads topromote better feminine hygiene and a healthier future.

All you have to do is to take a pledge, and together with the support of Singapore women, Whisper has collected over 3,000 pledges and will be donating the same number of pads to women villagers in Laos via World Vision Laos, Maternal Child Health project.

So do your part! Take a pledge, rediscover the joys of your womanhood, and help the women from Laos.

Do it Do it Do it Do it Do it Do it!

Be Happy it’s here!

Published by ivytan under Uncategorized

Happy of what is here? You may ask…
I am talking about… your ‘time of the month’!
Now you may groan and start complaining about the discomfort and inconvenience that it brings along, but hey! Have you not heard of the song ‘Time of your life’? (Dirty dancing featuring oh-so-sexy late Patrick Swayze).
So instead of seeing your menses as a drag every month, why not see it as a ‘time of your month’? Take the chance to celebrate and embrace your womanhood!

And this, is exactly what Whisper’s initiative of ‘Happy it’s here’ is all about.
Trust me, when I first heard of it, I was like ‘but what’s there to be happy about?!’. But after understanding the message behind this initiative, I was in awe. There are so much that I didn’t know about my own body!

One of my favourites:
During Day 1 and 2 of your period, you look and feel thinner, not bloated. That’s because your body’s burning carbs better! No kidding!

Now that’s something that I didn’t know! So if I want to go to the beach, this is probably the best time. The one time I don’t have to worry about other people judging my fat rolls.

Another reason to celebrate about getting your period regularly is that it’s a sign of good health.

Now if you want to know more about the Secrets of the Cycle, log on to
www.happyitshere.com.sg
You will learn new things you never knew.

Also, feel free to visit the fan page on Facebook and share your experiences with other women, the experiences that make us uniquely women!

Endangered

Published by ivytan under Uncategorized

1  out of 4 mammals are endangered.
1/3 of the amphibians on our planet is endangered.
Polar bears are changing their hunting habits that endangers their own life.
That’s their last desperate measure for food.
Magnificent spectacles are disappearing right before our own eyes.
The ecosystem that is so vital to our very own existence is collapsing right in front of us.
It’s heart-wrenching.
But we don’t see it. Or do we choose to not see it.

We may never truly, fully understand the mysteries that lies in every single part of this earth.
But it is ok. For we did not create it.
We should conserve it. For the existence of our future generations may very well depend on it.

It just doesn’t seem fair others have to sacrifice their entire population for our luxury.
Do your part. And start today instead of waiting around for others to start the ball rolling.
Do it before we, face the possibility of extinction ourselves.

Singapore Hit Awards 2009

Published by ivytan under Uncategorized

It happened just last Fri, but it feels like yesterday.

The adrenaline rush still pumping, the body still tired, and I’m still sick.

Day started really early, with me heading to S.H.E’s hotel for recording session with them.

While they were doing some individual shots with Channel U, I was sitting at the back of the room, waiting, and zoning out.

Then, being the potential ADHD patient I am, I started to fidget around in my seat. And inevitably knocked into the person who came to sit down beside me. I turned around to apologize immediately, only to realize it was Ella. Right beside me!!!

If I could have auctioned off my seat, I’d had made a small fortune. :)

Then there’s Lala backstage. Have I gushed about how much I love her? Oh yes I did. But it’s ok. I can gush again.

So I took another picture with her, featuring her heels.

Then there’s the random person I bumped into backstage.

Then there’s another 2 random persons…

this is not random. This is Tanya. They were taking a picture and from a corner, I screamed that I want to be part of the picture. So yes, I shamelessly forced myself into this picture.

But hey, it’s Tanya. So it’s worth the shamelessness.
